 Description
Has your watch been to the top of Everest? The Suunto Vector has. When to-the-second data makes the difference between life and death, the Suunto Vector delivers with a highly accurate barometer*, altimeter**, and compass.

Standout Features:

  • Altimeter, barometer, and compass
  • Barometer tracks 4 days of pressure trends for weather prediction
  • Clock, alarm, and stopwatch

What Does the Suunto Vector do?

Altimeter Watch: All 14 of the worlds 8,000+ meter summits are within your reach with the Vector's altimeter, which features a range up to 9,000m/29,500 ft. If you're focusing on pacing yourself, the Vector features an altitude difference measurement function for following the vertical progress between climb stages.

An automatic 24-hour memory stores altitude, ascent/descent, and features an adjustable altitude alarm. If you want to prove you got to the top, the Vector records your total and cumulative vertical ascents and descents as well as the number of runs skied.

Barometer Watch: If there's one thing that can ruin a day making ski runs, it's bad weather. Stay one step ahead of Mother Nature with the barometer equipped Suunto Vector.

The barometer displays current pressure and temperature and records barometric pressure from the past 4 days, allowing you to make robust predictions.

Set the reference altitude to show the present sea level pressure, helping you to better interpret barometric pressure at high altitudes. But when exploring the mountain, don't forget that the detected barometric pressure changes when you are moving in a vertical direction, which at times makes the tracking of weather changes more complicated.

Compass Watch: Get lost? Yeah right. The compass on the Suunto Vector tracks cardinal or half-cardinal points and features a north-south arrow. The compass can also be set to track a certain bearing.

The declination adjustment allows you to correct the difference between true north and magnetic north for more accurate readings.

Watch Features: Wake up on time with the alarm and have two alarms left over to remind you of meetings and lunch. The Suunto Vector also has a calendar programmed to the year 2089, a stopwatch with split-time measurements, and a countdown timer.

Who is the Suunto Vector best for?

The Suunto Vector features a sporty look and larger watch face that is best suited to avid adventurers or those who keep their look outdoorsy both at the office and on the trail.

With top-notch adventure features like altimeter, barometer, and compass, the Vector is the perfect companion for backpackers, mountaineers, skiers, snowboarders, or anyone who needs critical data.

*Suunto Barometer Watches
A barometer is an instrument that measures atmospheric pressure, or air pressure. You can forecast the coming weather with a barometer - low-pressure weather systems tend to come with cloudy skies and precipitation (rain, snow, etc), while high pressure weather systems usually come with very few clouds or precipitation. When the barometric pressure is dropping, it's time to be on the lookout for increasing clouds and possible bad weather.

A watch that can read barometric pressure is an extremely convenient and useful device - you can stay informed of coming weather conditions without interfering with what you're doing, since air pressure trends can be monitored right on your wrist.

This makes a barometer watch key piece of gear for many outdoor activites, including hiking, climbing, fishing, and amateur meteorology - basically, any activity where it's a good idea to be able to quickly and easily keep an eye on the coming weather.
Suunto makes several high-quality barometer watches, each with different capabilities and functionality.

**Suunto Altimeter Watches

An altimeter watch is a wristop instrument that allows the wearer to determine their current elevation. Of course, that's not all - combined with memory, an altimeter watch can keep track of your total and cumulative vertical ascents and descents, as well as the number of runs (for skiing or snowboarding, for example). In some watches, the altimeter can be used to estimate your vertical speed, or sound an alarm when you reach a set altitude.

The altimeters used in Suunto watches base their measurements on air pressure - in a nutshell, the lower your altitude is, the more air there is above you is, and the heavier it is. So when you move uphill, the air pressure sensor in the watch detects the decreasing air pressure, and automatically converts the pressure drop into a reading of your increasing altitude. Of course, it is not easy to get perfectly accurate measurements of altuitude, because there many factors that can cause air pressure to flucuate.

This is why many altimeter watches feature "temperature compensation," and why the altimeter must to be calibrated regularly (by simply entering the current barometric pressure or setting to a known altitude).

An altimeter is an important and useful piece of gear for many outdoor activities, including running, biking, hiking, skiing, or snowboarding. Pilots of small planes often wear an altimeter watch as a back-up in case of instrument failure - although be aware that an altimeter of this type cannot be used successfully in a pressurized plane.

Suunto makes a variety of high-end altimeter watches, each with different additional capabilities and functionality.
